Prowein first. Vinitaly -- with a new-look stand!

All is set for the season of the big international trade fairs. The first of these is Prowein, the German trade-show which for some years has been gaining importance for all European markets, not only the Teutonic markets. Prowein is indeed the most important for Monte del Frà which has been more and more present in Northern European markets. Visitors to the Monte del Frà stand G70 in Hall 3 will find Marica Bonomo and the full range of the Monte del Frà products.

At Vinitaly, Monte del Frà will be in its usual position - Hall 5, stand A3 - but this year with a new-look stand. The new stand seeks to promote not just the winery but the properties with a new feature -- an internet point where visitors will be able to discover the Monte del Frà philosophy, the wines, the cru, Custoza and the Valpolicella Classica.

Re-styling for the Custoza label.

After many years, the label of the Custoza Monte del Frà wine will undergo a re-styling. The change will not be radical and will not undermine the historical image that Custoza has in the world. "For a wine such as our Custoza, we cannot completely revolutionise the image", said Marica Bonomo, "with that label we have been able to create brand loyalty and give a guarantee of quality to generations of clients. We do need a touch of modernity though. We haven't taken anything away from the history, we've just made it more contemporary". The new label can be seen in the photo.

New web-site www.montedelfra.it

From the beginning of March the new Monte del Fra' website will be on-line with a modern re-styling and striking graphics. The new site has been designed to be simple, functional and intuitive. The website will be a way for us at Monte del Fra to be in touch also with social networks which are an important source of information on the web. There will be a space dedicated to hospitality with a menu of guided visits and information about the work carried out in the winery throughout the year. Photographer Giò Martorana will create the images whilst author and journalist Bernardo Pasquali will prepare the texts. The graphic design and web-development will be prepared by UKW Creative factory. Here is the address: www.montedelfra.it At Vinitaly a tablet station will be available in the stand from which visitors will be able to view the contents of the new site and explore the world of Monte del Fra' wines.

Raul Salama visits the winery

Monte del Fra was honoured to welcome a prestigious visitor to the winery recently -- Raoul Salama, editor-in-chief of the most authoritative French wine magazine (La Revue du Vin de France) and one of the most important international wine critics. After a visit to the winery accompanied by Marica Bonomo, Mr Salama was able to emerge himself in the world of Custoza and of the Valpolicella Monte del Fra' with a vertical tasting of Amarone Classico and Scarnocchio Tenuta Lena di Mezzo from 2007 to 2003. He particularly enjoyed the elegance and finesse of the 2006 vintage that expresses the quality of Fumane vineyard with a delicate freshness. Mr Salama remarked that Amarone is enjoying increased popularity on the French despite the fact that at the moment it is found in small quantities and only in large cities.

A new project with Giò Martorana

Monte del Fra' has recently started a new collaboration with regards their activities of communication and branding. Giò Martorana, the internationally renowned Italian photographer, will create the new image for the winery. Giò is a highly-respected professional who has been working in the fashion industry. Giò was also awarded a prize from UNESCO in 1999 for his portrait work and exhibited his work at the MOMA in New York. He has a very strongly evocative style able to portray the land and the elegance behind a wine as well as the men and women who create it. Giò will produce a set of photographs over a year showing the changes to the vine across the seasons and the work that goes on in the cellar. Of course he'll do it his own way -- bringing haute couture into the cellars!
