Unanimous praise at national and international level for Cà del Magro Custoza Superiore Doc 2018 of the Monte del Frà company from Sommacampagna (Verona), which is established as one of the most voted and appreciated Italian whites by the foreign press in recent years: Wine Spectator assigns it in fact, 91 points – the highest score ever assigned to a Custoza by the US magazine -, James Suckling 92 points and Tom Hyland – authoritative wine correspondent for Forbes – even 97 points, defining it as one of the best whites of the year.

These excellent results are added to the numerous other awards and recognitions that Cà del Magro has received over the years also in Italy , where not only have he been awarded Tre Bicchieri del Gambero Rosso for 11 consecutive years , but he has achieved high scores on many of the Italian guides including Good Wines of Italy , I Veronelli , Vitae – AIS and 95 points on the Essential Guide 2021 of DoctorWine and Wines Critic .

Monte del Frà

The producer of this excellent white from Custoza is the Venetian company Monte del Frà , which was born in the land of the Custoza appellation and currently owns vineyards also in Valpolicella and in Lugana . The second and third generation of the Bonomo family manage the company today .

Cà del Magro Custoza Superiore Doc

Custoza Superiore Cà del Magro is certainly the most representative wine of Monte del Frà . The different grapes that compose it – Garganega, Trebbianello, Bianca Fernanda and lncontro Manzoni – come from a vineyard of over thirty years grown on a hill in the heart of Custoza , south-east of Lake Garda . A still white that rests in steel and cement for 8 months and reveals its potential to the fullest with bottle aging, an element that differentiates it from other Custoza , more ready to drink.

Tasting notes

A wine with a lively personality that strikes for the finesse and balance of its components that integrate harmoniously.

In the glass it strikes for its beautiful and luminous straw yellow color with golden reflections. The nose is expressed with a fine and complex bouquet that is expressed in a rich range of aromas. White flowers, chamomile, peach and apricot are chased by hints of tropical fruit and spicy notes, including lychee, mango, white pepper and ginger, which are clear and elegant. On the palate it reveals a marked savory imprint that acts as a leitmotiv for a sip of good structure. The snappy freshness invites you to drink and gives a long persistence with a pleasant finish of ripe fruit and citrine notes.

A remarkable wine that certainly reflects a score of over 90 points and which, with a price of around € 10 per bottle, truly represents an excellent quality / price ratio.

Pairing : excellent with fish, white meats, Italian antipasti and pasta. It is perfectly suited to French, Asian and vegetarian cuisine.
