If you are strolling around Verona in autumn, you will notice that life has changed its rhythm.
Summer is slowly giving way to a new season. Schools reopen, and in the morning the voices of children fill the streets again. In the countryside, the first grapes are being harvested, while in Borghetto the slow waters of the Mincio seem to wake up with the village.
The light changes too. Days become shorter, but the sunsets are warmer, painting the vineyards and the hills around Custoza in shades of gold and amber.
And then there are the “sagre” — the traditional village festivals that return throughout the area at this time of year. In the evening, people gather around long tables, taste local food and wine, and linger over conversations about the summer that has just ended.
For us, this is one of the most beautiful times of the year.
Not quite summer, not yet winter. A quieter season when Verona and its countryside invite you to slow down, walk, taste and look around.
