Surrounded by woods and a breathtaking panorama, the 18 hectares/44.5 acres of the Lena di Mezzo estate form the heart of the Valpolicella Classica and dominate the landscape below the Salette sanctuary. History, elegance, and territorial complexity are the key elements of Monte del Frà's stylistic credo. In this extraordinary territory, they find a new mainspring.
The Valpolicella (namely Val polis cellae, The valley of many cellars) is where each commune and vineyard distinct themselves through their very own nature. The vinification, harvesting, and wilting take place in San Pietro in Cariano, a modern structure with air-conditioned wilting premises able of controlled wilting of up to 300 tons of grapes. Thus, we can preserve the crispness and elegance of every single grape and ensure that technology becomes a tool to unfold the complexity and elegance of a true Valpolicella wine.
The Ripasso Classico Tenuta Lena di Mezzo is a stylish and elegant yet boldly honest wine. A taste of the true Valpolicella that is astonishingly lighthearted and adds an exceptional touch when served with Italian cuisine.
Excellent with red braised, grilled or roasted meat. It goes well with aged cheeses, fatty fish and asian cuisine. Also delicious alone by the glass as meditation wine.
Destemming and pressing followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Daily fulling to help skins enter frequently in contact with grape must. After the first fermentation is completed, pressed skins of amarone are added in the wine at the end of the winter and it starts naturally a second fermentation. Afterwards, wine is stored for aabout 20 months in French oak casks of 30 hectolitre.
